Afi Blackshear is an associate at Kercher Law, with experience representing public and private companies, boards of directors, and individuals in complex commercial, shareholder, and fiduciary duty disputes. He is relied upon to solve problems without an obvious playbook: his work has included defending a favorable discovery ruling concerning evidentiary spoliation and its adverse-jury-instruction sanction, defending a bellwether trial verdict on the papers, and executing a cross-jurisdictional strategy that disqualified a plaintiffs’ firm from multiple mass-tort dockets.
Afi came to Kercher with a longstanding interest in how AI can make sophisticated legal work more rigorous and efficient while preserving lawyer judgment where it matters most. Through the Center for AI and Digital Policy, he researched emerging AI governance frameworks, and at Stanford he represented parties submitting comments to federal agencies on AI, consumer protection, and algorithmic decision-making.
